Power Up Power People!
Have you stepped into your Skywalker energy this crazy ass year yet?
I mean, clearly the Siths have taken over the 3 branches of federal government and are up to their worst - but have you been showing up for the Resistance with hope and radical solidarity like Cassian Andor and Mon Mothma? #StarWarsGeek #NoShame

If you haven’t watched the Star Wars series Andor yet, you must. I think it’s perfect content for sparking political education discussions about our world today. It's a series within the Star Wars saga set during a time when there are no active Jedi—no council of superheroes to protect the people from the evils of the Empire. It's THE PEOPLE who find a way to steal the plans to the Death Star, concentrating their own Jedi-like Skywalker energy together.
The show dives deep into the lives, fears, and brave acts of everyday people—people like you and me, right now in this real world. People willing to risk it all for the ones they love, for the communities and cultures they cherish, and for the freedom they believe in. That’s why I think Andor is one of the most inspiring shows representing the intersectionality of our movement right now. It hits hard on the injustices of authoritarianism, immigration policy, prison labor and enslavement, healthcare, nuclear war, genocide, disinformation, wealth disparity, and so much more.
Eugene Puryear—author of Shackled and Chained: Mass Incarceration in Capitalist America and host/creator at BreakThrough News—recently interviewed Andor standout Denise Gough about her role as an Imperial Security Bureau Agent and the chilling parallels between the fiction of Andor and the real, ongoing war and genocide in Palestine today. Watch the 15-minute YouTube video here:
If Denise Gough can bravely speak up about the rising authoritarianism of our times, what can you do?
What have you already done that you feel good about?
What do you need to do to restore the force within you?
Because we have a long fight ahead of us, BaBy!

In the past couple weeks alone I’ve rallied on the steps of the Supreme Court to protect birthright citizenship; strategized in LA with national movement leaders about winning living wages for all; mobilized people to the Baltimore County School Board to protect funding for public educators; marched to protest ICE abductions happening right here in Maryland, written to my legislators about these issues, and been having intentional 1-to-1s every day.
If you’re unsure about where or how to get involved with the movement to resist authoritarianism, well - it's your lucky day!
It’s No Kings Day, a GREAT DAY to hop in with over 1000 peaceful gatherings happening across the United States, organized by Indivisible! My aunt is going and it's the first protest she’s ever been to in her life. I'm so proud of her. And if my bougie ass aunt is stepping out, you KNOW it's real, real, real bad.

Here are three trustworthy national resources from awesome organizations to help you plug in locally and safely with the resistance near you:
The Working Families Party Events page
The Movement for Black Lives Protocol for Public Health and Harm/Risk Reduction While Protesting
Ok so why are you still reading this? You better start watching Andor ...and/or get to an action near you today!

P.S. Just for Fun - take this fun little quiz to see which Star Wars Hero you are. It says I'm Chewbacca, but really I know I am more of an Ahsoka Tano!
